World, Meet Goalkeeper. David, Say ‘Hello World. I Am Here to Save You All’
David De Gea, Manchester United’s goalkeeping ingenue, just announced himself on the world stage. He was graceful. He had class. He sowed his standard in front of the stretford end. He was every Arthurian chivalrous hero, the Green Knight of a Newish Old Trafford. Let’s hope he can be Daedalus to Moye’s Icarus.
Atlas did not shrug, he Flew.
His double save may just have been the best save in world football this year. He is only 23 years old - in a sport where keepers peak in their 30’s, he is a decade early to the hunt. He was chosen to the Premier League Team of the Year last year, out of 40 possible BPL keepers.
